Who Is Ken Luallen?
SIBLINGS: 1, my younger sister Mary.
RAISED: In Northern New Jersey, the bedroom of Manhattan (along with Connecticut and Long Island). I enjoyed a privileged youth of suburbs and soccer fields.
LIVES: Generally in the Washington D.C. metro area. Specifically in Vienna, VA.
COLLEGE: Dartmouth College, Hanover NH. I initially went there to study Computer Science but ultimately majored in English Literature (William Shakespeare, Geoffrey Chaucer, Robert Frost, Virginia Woolf, etc.) because that’s what I was best at. The Ivy League was a great experience for which I will always be grateful to my parents.
PREVIOUS LIFE: I produced news stories for ABC World News Tonight and 20/20. I wrote the news for anchors to read in New York, NY. I reported the news for NBC television stations in Hartford, CT and Raleigh, NC. In that order.
FIRST SOLO WEDDING: May 2007 in Chapel Hill, NC.
FULL-TIME WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER SINCE: Mid-2008, a few months before Lehman Brothers went out of business and the world economy collapsed. Nice!
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!: Television journalism lost its way and I got tired of being that guy. If I was going to work non-stop I decided it should be for companies I owned so I wanted to get started building businesses. Photography was a natural talent that allowed me a chance to go out on my own so I jumped on it. Ken Luallen Weddings is the first of many things I’d like to do before my time is up.
